We are a Charlotte-based residential architecture firm passionate about designing homes that are thoughtful, timeless, and deeply personal. Whether we're crafting a custom new construction, expanding an existing home, or reimagining a space through renovation, our goal is always the same; to listen carefully, design intentionally, and deliver results that exceed expectations and reflect the unique vision of each client.

Cox Architecture & Design is a licensed residential architecture firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina, founded by Craig Cox, AIA. The firm specializes exclusively in residential architecture including custom new construction homes, home additions, and whole-home renovations across the greater Charlotte region. Since its founding, Cox Architecture & Design has completed over 28 residential projects spanning Mecklenburg, Union, and Iredell counties, earning recognition from Houzz, local publications, and industry peers for design excellence and client service. The firm's approach is rooted in close collaboration with each homeowner — listening carefully to how they live, what they value, and how their home can better serve their daily life. Every project begins with a thorough site and program analysis before a single line is drawn. Cox Architecture & Design manages the full arc of a project from initial feasibility and schematic design through construction documents, permitting, and construction administration, serving as the homeowner's advocate at every stage. Cox Architecture & Design serves clients throughout Charlotte and its surrounding communities including Myers Park, Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, Southpark, Ballantyne, Lake Norman, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Fort Mill, Waxhaw, Weddington, and Matthews. The firm is a proud member of the American Institute of Architects and is licensed to practice architecture in North Carolina.

Gregory Bartley
Designer
Judson University

Gregory's interest in architecture began while working at a hometown firm in Portland, Maine. He grew up in a small coastal community along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and after receiving his high school diploma, he was ready to dive into city life. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (2010) and a Master of Architecture (2012) from Judson University, just outside of Chicago, Illinois.

Dedicated to his first job at an architectural office in Portland, Gregory often returned to Maine during winter and summer breaks to work as a recurring intern. The firm specialized in oceanfront restaurants, urban revitalization studies, academic buildings, and fire-rescue/police stations. In the fall of 2014, Gregory relocated to Charlotte in search of warmer weather and a strong sense of Southern hospitality. He has enjoyed calling the Queen City home ever since, and continues to explore the region's architectural landscape and cultural offerings.

Raymond Gross

College of Charleston
Clemson University

Raymond grew up in Maryland and South Carolina, developing an early appreciation for art, craftsmanship, and history. This interest led him to study Historic Preservation and Community Planning at the College of Charleston in 2019, followed by a Master of Architecture from Clemson University in 2022. After relocating to Charlotte following graduation, he was drawn to the city’s energy and design culture and joined the team in early 2025.

His experience in both commercial and residential architecture, combined with a background in preservation, has shaped a thoughtful approach to designing with context. Raymond believes a home should be both a retreat and a reflection of its inhabitants, visually inspiring, grounded in comfort, and responsive to the way people truly live. He finds the most fulfillment in the complete design process, especially the journey from early sketches to real, lived-in spaces that feel intentional, enduring, and deeply personal.
